Bios:

  • Dr. Marilyn Y. Byrd, Associate Professor in the Department of Human Relations at the University of Oklahoma where she teaches courses in human resource development, diversity and justice in organizations, organizational behavior, and organizational ethics. Marilyn is a recognized social justice scholar/educator and subject matter expert. In 2020, she received the Academy of Human Resource Development's Critical HRD Scholar award. Marilyn is the current Editor in Chief of Advances in Developing Human Resources, one of the four journals sponsored by the Academy of Human Resource Development. In addition to her research on matters of social justice, Dr. Byrd's research focuses on theorizing the leadership experiences of Black American women.

  • Dr. Chaunda L. Scott, Professor of Human Resource Development in the Department of Organizational Leadership at Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan. She also serves as the coordinator of the Graduate Human Diversity Inclusion and Social Justice Certificate Program and the Diversity and Inclusion Specialist for the Office of the Dean in the School of Education and Human Services. Her scholarly teaching, research and service activities are focused in the areas of human resource development, workforce diversity policies and practices, social justice education, post-Apartheid diversity and social justice education and eradicating racism. Dr. Scott is a Fulbright Scholar, and advisor to the Academy of Human Resource Development’s [AHRD] Antiracism Committee. She is also a Steering Committee Member of the AHRD’s Workforce Diversity and Inclusion Special Interest Group.

  • Dr. Terrence E. Maltbia, Associate Professor of Practice in the Department of Organization and Leadership, at Teachers College, Columbia. Scholarly interest includes strategic learning; leadership and organizational development; diversity and cultural intelligence; executive and organizational coaching. Terry came to Columbia after over 20 years of diverse experience as an external and internal organizational effectiveness consultant, thought leader and educator—in positions ranging from field sales, sales management, sales training, to Vice President Organizational Effectiveness Center of Excellence for a major Fortune 200 Corporation—as well as two consulting firms. He is the recipient of The Academy of Human Resources Development’s Malcolm Knowles Dissertation of the Year Award for his pioneering diversity practitioner research; was recognized as #1 In Coach Education in the World by Thinkers50 | Marshall Goldsmith’s Top Global Coaches 2019, 2021; AIIR Consulting’s 2020 Coaching Leadership Award Winner in 2020; and Outstanding Contribution to Coaching Award – Henley Business School, University Reading, Fall 2021.
