Bios:

  • Dr. Valerie Stead is Professor in Leadership and Management and Director of the Academy for Gender, Work and Leadership at Lancaster University Management School in the UK. Valerie has taught leadership at undergraduate, postgraduate and executive levels, and was previously Director of Lancaster University’s MA in Human Resources and Consulting. Valerie’s research adopts ideas of power and gender to examine the relationship between leadership, leadership learning and gender, and the implications for management education and leadership development. Valerie has published widely in scholarly journals, books and edited collections. She is a Fellow of the British Academy of Management, and consulting editor (formerly Associate Editor) for the International Journal of Management Reviews.proceedings.

  • Dr. Susan R. Madsen is the Inaugural Karen Haight Huntsman Endowed Professor of Leadership in the Jon M. Huntsman School of Business at Utah State University. Susan is considered one of the top global scholars and thought leaders on the topic of women’s leadership. She has authored or edited seven books, and has published hundreds of articles, chapters, and reports. Her research has been cited in the U.S. News and World Report, The Atlantic, The New York Times, Parenting Magazine, Chronicle of Higher Education, and The Washington Post. She is also a regular contributor to Forbes and other local and state newspapers. Susan serves on many nonprofit and community boards, and her passion is to strengthen the impact of girls and women worldwide.
