Bios:
Dr. Matthew Hurtienne, Associate Professor at the University of Texas at Tyler. He earned a doctorate in human resources with a focus on organizational learning, performance, and change from Colorado State University. With over twenty years of practical experience, Dr. Hurtienne has made significant contributions to union-management relations, strategic planning, and human resources across both nonprofit and for-profit sectors. He has also served as a dean and academic leader, demonstrating his passion for integrating research and practice and making a meaningful impact. He co-developed the equity leadership theory and actively promotes positive organizational behavior, employee engagement, and effective leadership practices. As a consultant and conference speaker, Dr. Hurtienne has shared his expertise at numerous international and national conferences. His commitment to the field is further demonstrated by his participation on several boards, including the Academy of Human Resource Development (AHRD), Lutheran Federal Credit Union, Wisconsin Better Business Bureau Foundation, Workforce Development Board of South-Central Wisconsin, Manufacturing Business Alliance of Dodge County, WI, and Wisconsin Workforce Transformation, Inc.
Dr. Katherine “Katie” Rosenbusch, Associate Professor of Management in the Costello College of Business. She joined George Mason University in 2015 from Towson University. She has experience in training and development with private and non-profit organizations, including three years living in Indonesia. It was this international experience that inspired her current research in cross-cultural adjustment, international human resources, and global leadership development. Her research has been published in Human resource Development International and Cross-Cultural Management: An International Journal. Katie received her bachelors and masters from Texas A&M University and her doctorate from the George Washington University in Human and Organizational Learning. She is currently a Dean’s Teaching Fellow and has received Outstanding Teaching Awards at the College and University level.
Dr. Claire Gubbins, Professor in Organisational Behaviour & HRM at Dublin City University (DCU) Business School, Ireland. Her research programme focuses on workplace social relationships and social networks in facilitating informal learning processes and tacit knowledge circulation. She also investigates with a team of PhD scholars the impact of new work arrangements such as hybrid/remote working, virtual workplaces and human-AI collaboration on workplace social relationships. Claire was elected to the Board of the Academy of Human Resource Resource Development (AHRD) (2025), served as Associate Editor of Human Resource Development Quarterly (2013-2019) including on the HRDQ Richard A. Swanson best paper award and the Malcolm S. Knowles Dissertation award committee. Claire is the Chair of the Irish Academy of Management Early Career Development Network supporting early career academics https://iamireland.ie/ecdn-events/-.
