Bios:
Dr. Matthew Hurtienne, Associate Professor at the University of Texas at Tyler. He earned a doctorate in human resources with a focus on organizational learning, performance, and change from Colorado State University. With over twenty years of practical experience, Dr. Hurtienne has made significant contributions to union-management relations, strategic planning, and human resources across both nonprofit and for-profit sectors. He has also served as a dean and academic leader, demonstrating his passion for integrating research and practice and making a meaningful impact. He co-developed the equity leadership theory and actively promotes positive organizational behavior, employee engagement, and effective leadership practices. As a consultant and conference speaker, Dr. Hurtienne has shared his expertise at numerous international and national conferences. His commitment to the field is further demonstrated by his participation on several boards, including the Academy of Human Resource Development (AHRD), Lutheran Federal Credit Union, Wisconsin Better Business Bureau Foundation, Workforce Development Board of South-Central Wisconsin, Manufacturing Business Alliance of Dodge County, WI, and Wisconsin Workforce Transformation, Inc.
Dr. Heesun Kim is an Assistant Professor of Management at Francis Marion University. She earned her doctorate in Human Resource Development from Texas A&M University. Her research examines how individuals successfully navigate careers and work in changing and uncertain environments, and how the availability and quality of relational, leadership, and organizational resources shape their ability to adapt, develop, and thrive. Dr. Kim actively contributes to the scholarly community by publishing her research in peer-reviewed journals and serving as a reviewer for journals such as Human Resource Development Quarterly, Journal of Business Ethics, and Organization Management Journal. She also contributes to the HRD community through her service to the Academy of Human Resource Development (AHRD), where she has held track leadership roles for three consecutive years and currently serves as Track Chair for the Leadership Development and Strategic HRD track.
